Ezekiel 47:1  The water was flowing down from below the south end of the threshold of the temple, south of the altar.

Today I want to encourage anyone standing in a ditch, a valley, a very low place, downtrodden and overwhelmed by life’s circumstances.  The Holy Spirit is about to meet you in that place of despondency, in that place where you have been despised and pulled down.  A study of the scriptures shows that God stoops down to pick us up and make us great.  The Psalmist declares, “You took me out of a pit of despair, out of the miry clay and set my feet on the rock”.  The scripture in Ezekiel shows that water which typifies the Spirit was flowing from down below the altar and the Gospels recount that the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove.  The examples are countless; Joseph was thrown in the pit before he made it to the palace, his brothers hated him and thought they were getting rid of him.  On the contrary they were positioning him for greatness.  Daniel was thrown into a lion’s den before being rescued and promoted.  The Spirit of God will descend into your pit to rescue you.  You are in the place of your encounter.  Psalm 113 sums it beautifully in these words “He raises up the poor out of the dust and lifts the needy out of the dunghill; that he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.

For God to raise you up, you must be down. Isaiah declares “For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite. Many contrite, desperate people encountered God at their lowest points.  Jonah net god in the belly of a fish, cast out of sight into the deep, in the midst of the seas; where the floods compassed him, and the waves passed over him.   Paul had to be shipwrecked before going to Malta, a place of his recognition.  Ruth had to go down to the threshing floor. Even Jesus descended into hell before God raised Him up and sat Him at His right Hand.  In that place of lowliness, God is changing your direction and rising you to a place of power.

Heavenly Father we come to you today and humble ourselves.  We bow down, lay prostrate and come down to seek Your Face.  You have said in Your Word if my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Come down and heal our marriages, our families, our finances, come down Holy Spirit and heal our land.
